WorshipConcord is a gathering of lay people, church musicians, artists, teachers, pastors, and professors, who share a positive vision for having a constructive, Christ-centered conversation about worship.

WorshipConcord emphasizes relationships and restoring the church’s conversation about worship to a place where by God’s grace ongoing harmony, rather than dispute, is the expected outcome.

WorshipConcord is a forward-looking effort to apply the simple principle, Lutheran theology for Lutheran worship. It combines a deep respect for the historic liturgical traditions of the church with an openness to the leading of the Holy Spirit in the present and the future.

As Martin Luther once wrote, “The Scriptures prescribe nothing in these matters, but allow freedom for the Spirit to act according to his own understanding as the respective place, time, and persons may require it.” (Latin Mass)

WorshipConcord is a resource for worship leaders, lay and ordained. It is a “go-to” place for acquiring the necessary tools to make worship choices that are good for the church. It is a safe place for asking questions, sharing resources, and discussing each other’s work in a non-threatening way.

The goal of WorshipConcord is twofold:

● to promote harmony by fostering respect between those who appreciate different worship forms, and . . .

● to equip worship leaders with the tools they need to evaluate contemporary forms for use in the local congregation.

The approach of WorshipConcord has been called a roadmap for peace. It provides a common basis for discussing worship issues by stressing relationships, shared theological values, and sound methodology. It reintroduces the conversation about worship in the local congregation by setting aside emotional patterns of speaking about worship. It bases the conversation on our identity as brothers and sisters in Christ and on the common theological ground we share with regard to worship.
